Brandon Rainey - Class of 2007

Interim Board President - CEO

Brandon Rainey is a writer, director, educator, author and national motivational speaker. He currently serves as the Head of School for DNA Prep Academy, a private school focused on academic, athletic and artistic development. He is also serves as the Founder & Executive Director of CBG ARTS and Chairman of Man Laws 101 Academy. For several years he worked at Sandy Hook Promise serving as a National Trainer and Regional Manager training over 85,000 students, educators and local law enforcement in suicide prevention, school shooting/ gun violence awareness and youth advocacy. This work led him to launch the “Man Laws Experience” which is an interactive & theatrical experience empowering, equipping and encouraging young men to think about what type of man they want to be and learn how to be LEADERS within their ecosystems. 

 Originally from South Central Los Angeles, Raineys’ written work has been on a plethora of community and professional stages across the nation.

He is honored to serve GLAMMA since they provided the scholarship that helped him as an incoming freshman. 

 
 

Sulaiman Kenyatta - Class of 2011

Vice President - CSO

Suli graduated from Morehouse College in May 2011, earning his Bachelor of Arts in International Business. Sulaiman was most recently an Associate at the International Business Accelerator, an early-stage startup incubator in Los Angeles, CA, where he developed an online curriculum to teach companies how to scale into global markets. He also helped cultivate strategic relationships with industry associations, community partners, and business leaders to participate in cohort seminars.

Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Sulaiman spent two years living in Southeast Asia. After backpacking across the region for several months, he settled in Singapore to conduct an independent research project analyzing the business issues and trade dynamics of the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, upon finishing his undergraduate degree Sulaiman served as the Communications Manager at the US-China Business Council in Washington D.C.

Sulaiman sits on the Global Committee of the Los Angeles Venture Association to help create programming that highlights global opportunities and capital sources for companies based in or coming to the Southern California venture ecosystem.

Marcus Smith - Class of 2002

2nd Vice President - CMO

Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, Marcus graduated from Morehouse, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication. While at The College, he was a member of the SGA and Prospective Student Seminar.

He is a Emmy-nominated media and entertainment professional with 25 years of industry experience. His current role is Sr. Director for Talent Relations at Fox Sports, based in Los Angeles. He is responsible for Fox Sports on-air talent recruitment, development and long-range planning. Prior to joining Fox Sports, Marcus worked for the NFL Media Group; he was charged with managing talent appearances, programming and content as well as coordination of marquee sporting events including the Super Bowl, NFL Combine, NFL Draft and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Marcus is a proud husband and father to two future Spelmanites. He currently resides in Diamond Bar, CA.
